The projects below are great examples of our hardwood floor expertise. We have rehavved and refinished hardwood floors from very old homes; these typically offer the most challenges and at the same time the greatest satisfaction!
Taking something that is 50, and at time even 100, years old and transforming them into modern masterpieces makes everyone happy!
The Torch Lake project had us refinishing the stairwell and landing for a 100 year old home.
The project included rebuilding the staircase, rebuilt the hand rails, and, of course, sanding and refinishing floors.
As you can see, the staircase was in pretty rough shape!!

As you can see, the kitchen and dining floor are slanted towards each other. A marble placed at either end of the floor will wind up at the entrance to the kitchen!
Also, note the floor color and the uneven floors in adjacent rooms. This will ultimately result in one continuous level, dark colored floor from entrance, through dining/kitchen and den.
The Seneca project, an 1878 home in Bellaire, MI, was a multi-faceted project that presented some unique challenges.
First the kitchen and dining room floors slanted toward one and other. As well, the floors where like roller coasters as the floor joists had dropped.
The living and hall floor was at one level, the kitchen another and the den a third; all about an inch higher or lower than the oth
The Seneca clients wanted dark floors and, using some mixing techniques with a series of layering, the desired results achieved.
The mainstay of any hardwood floor specialist is refinishing. Being able to determine if the floor can be refinished; experience sanding and a tried and true process for staining and finishing.
Here we are just starting a cherry wood floor refinishing project on Lake Leelanau.
